Say, I am constantly amazed at how people around the world in other countries still look up to America as the promised land! Despite all the ugly things that the global news media has heaped upon our great nation and despite all the taunts from radical regimes, America still stands tallest of all.

I thought I would start this topic where FELLOW members can post examples of how America (the good ol' USA) is still the most desirable place to be on the face of the earth. Are we a perfect nation? No, far from it.

Do we not have slums and crime-riddled streets? Sadly we do! But yet, despite our nation's shortcomings, the one thing the USA offers more than any other country on the face of the earth is the promise of a better life. All one has to do is pull themselves up by their bootstraps and go out and try to make something of themselves as America is the land of opportunity.

Is America becoming more isolationist by building a border wall along the Mexican border and refusing many asylum seekers? Perhaps there is an argument for that notion, but there is also the need to protect American citizens from the sinister terrorists and other criminals who might be allowed to roam freely amongst us if we don't try to restrict our borders to some extent? Still, for those who seek a better life and freedom from oppression, America still stands for the ideal dream for those who are impoverished or enslaved....

HERE IS THE SONNET (A POEM) ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY BY EMMA LAZARUS

The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

HERE'S A GREAT IMAGE FROM THE OLD SOVIET UNION....

The date was January 1, 1990....in Moscow...on a snowy, cold and damp street in Moscow's Pushkin Square....where the first McDonald's fast food restaurant in the Soviet Union had opened....take a look at the long lines that developed that day for something most Americans take for granted.....

A MUCH MORE RECENT EXAMPLE IN THE STREETS OF HONG KONG....

Where the citizens of the former British Colony fear that Communist China is about to take away their rights and freedoms...strange that here in our own country, many political candidates on the left have tried to tell us that the USA is no longer a desirable place to live...that America is oppressive for many....

Well, try telling that to the citizens of Hong Kong who fear that their future freedoms will be taken away....These protesters now wave the US flag in their streets and they chant the US National Anthem...the Star-Spangled Banner....maybe this isn't such a bad place that we live in after all? Do ya think....? Ã°Å¸Ëœâ€°

HERE'S A SOBERING THOUGHT FOR THOSE WHO SEEK TO LABEL THE USA AS A TIRED AND UNSAFE...and UNDESIRABLE PLACE TO LIVE....

Well, if there is any truth to that, then why is it that nowhwere on the internet can a person find statistics about Americans trying to flee this country? I am unable to find any statistics like that, no matter how deep I search.....

Oh, I suppose there might be a few criminals who are trying to escape the US before the authorities catch up to them for their misdeeds....but really, all the images of the Border Wall show people trying to get INTO the United States....I can never find any images of people trying to escape the US....it's all ONE WAY TRAFFIC!

ONE WAY TRAFFIC AT THE US-MEXICO BORDER-- NO ONE IS TRYING TO ESCAPE THE USA! EVERYONE WANTS IN!  ðŸ˜‰

USA='s freedom to choose what you want to do with your life ~ and then the opportunity to do so ...

Many don't know what they want ~ and never choose ... so others choose their lives for them ...

Some think they know what they want ~ but aren't willing to do the work required to achieve it ...
