I began a short on the Russell 2000 two days ago...but Da Boyz made it look like I made a dumb bet...  [eek]

Well, so far it looks that way....but look closely at the IWM daily chart....even though there was that pulse to the upside (see the hollow candle pop off the 50 day line)....

That pulse today was on LOWER VOLUME....not exactly a convincing pop there!

So, despite the fact that my TWM calls (TWM is 2x short the Russell) went into a deficit position for me, I held my position as I think the rally today was a sucker's rally....

Well, at least that is the way I see it for now...then again, maybe Da Boyz [sneaky] are planning to make a sucker out of me, huh?  [bawl]

I TOOK PRIFITS ON NUGT TODAY....

I gave back of some gains the last two days and shortly after this morning's open, almost all of my gains had drained away...but then NUGT rallied up to $13....

And with the weekend ahead and getting back up to a decent gain, I decided to exit the options position today...Also, I believe the pSar flipped to bearish this morning, and that led me to think I should exit while I could....yep, my gains were a lot higher 48 hours ago before Trump spoke about a "really great tax plan"....

I sold 2 NUGT March 10th $11 calls at $2.50 per share...Gross sale of $500....original cost was $1.74 each on Jan. 31st, so I show a gross profit of $152 on the trade before commissions...for the record, I pay a preferred customer rate of $7 on my options trades, so you do the math if you want....

The percentage gain was 43.6% gross...those who traded the stock rather than the calls would have placed a larger investment to get the same $ gain as me or they would have settled for a lower 15% gain during the time I held.

I STILL HAVE OTHER PRECIOUS METALS POSITIONS, SO THAT MADE IT EASIER TO EXIT ON NUGT...

I have a position in EXK and it is higher today at $4.72...my original investment was at $4.20 on 1/31.

I have positions in IMPUY and PLG and I am showing modest gains so far and despite a sharp pullback today in the price of platinum.

SPEAKING OF PSAR FLIPS...

It looks like my position in ZBRA is about to take off...it is very close to taking out the pSAR overhead resistance...the price rising nicely off the 50 day and the histo bars are rising and now crossing the zero line....I have an $85 call that I bought back at around $83....so it is about to "be in the money" as they say.

I posted a ZBRA daily chart not many days ago if anyone wants to look it up.

Moments ago, I exited my short on the Russell as stocks push to new intra-day highs....

The TWM calls had fallen out of the money and with expiry only weeks away, I did not want to see these go to zero...I sold the two calls and got back $158 before the $7 commission...I originally paid $261 for the pair only 3 days ago...so I lost a little over $100 on the trade and not happy about that, but always glad to re-cover a decent portion of the original investment which can be re-deployed on a better trade next time.

WELL,MY SHORT OF THE RUSSELL DIDN'T WORK TOO WELL....

So why not go back to one that did work for me recently....yes, how about SHLD (Sears and K-Mart)...

The shorts got massively short squeezed this morning by a company announcement of $1 billion in savings cuts...but if one takes time to read thru the propoganda, they will find that some of the cuts were previuosly announced...not a lot of real news in the announcement...

But look at that massive volume on the short squeeze....that volume is generated by the shorts who needed to buy back stock to cover their shorts....most likely it was Eddie L who sold a lot of his stock shares to the shorts with that 35% to 40% pop this morning...lol!

Now, look at the candle...it went black and SHLD is near its lows of the day...I swooped in and bought a new short position using puts....I don't have to borrow stock or worry about short covering with puts...lol!

I bought 2 June $7 puts at $1.88 each....these puts are marked down 26% from yesterday,so it looks like a good time to start another potentially profitable short on SHLD....

I have over 4 months to work on filling that new gap although I don't think I will have to wait very long to fill it!

ACE ,,, I just played with "Calendar" for the first time ... I put a test & comment on Feb.11 day ...

to see details ,,, click on far left icon on the calendar ... I don't know if Calendar is specific to person posting ?? ,,, or if anyone can see what has been added to the calendar ??? ... probably any one ???

any way play with it some ,,, click on the options ...

one could enter their buys there ,,, and then update the sell results ~ for instance ...

or could list future Market Events that one wants to remember ,,, like FED meeting dates ,,, or quad witch day ,,, or etc. ...

Shark, I have posted a few events to the CALENDAR, and I wasn't sure that anyone else could....

But, I also noticed that each time I posted to the calendar, the system sends out an email to me to let me know an event is posted. I don't know if it does that for everyone else?

Or, maybe it is because I signed up for Email notices...

My only point with that is that if others are getting an email everytime someone posts to the calendar, it might be a little annoying to them?

So, let me throw it out to the board community...do you get an email notice every time someone posts an event to the calendar and does that bother you??? [rolleyes]

Ace, I pretty much get an e-mail alert every time anything is posted on any board. They add up in a hurry.

CMAC38, there is a way to turn that off. If you go into your personal profile, there is a box you can check off to stop receiving email alerts. If I recall right, it might have to be checked off for each topic that you do not want to receive email alerts.

As for the calendar, I am not sure how to turn that off--so I will take a look around the personal profile and see if I can figure it out. [crazy]

INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP EMAILS ON TOPICS YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN:

  1. Click on Control Panel.
  2. Look for Topic Subscription tab and click it.
  3. Check off the boxes in the far left side next to each topic you do not want to receive emails for.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the topics list to a small white box that says "select an action"
  5. Scroll the "select an action" section to UNSUBSCRIBE. Click that on and that should end email notifications if you don't want them.
  6. It should not hurt you from continuing to read or post in those topics--it should only end the email notices.
LET ME KNOW IF THAT WORKS AND I WILL POST THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS SECTION. THANKS.

THERE IS NO DOUBT WE ARE IN A BULL MARKET...

But I often glance at this long term chart on the New Highs-New Lows to see where in the cycle we are....and notice the current Bull is quite extended time-wise compared to previous cycles....

It does seem we are due for a correction, but trying to guess that precise moment is never easy in a raging bull phase...

AS I MENTIONED LATE YESTERDAY, I BEGAN A NEW SHORT ON SHLD...

It seemed like the perfect time after SHLD squeezed many shorts and the massive short covering panic caused a record amount of shares to be traded (see that huge volume bar on my chart)....

But after the price had hit that 40% pop level, it began to fall back quickly....see that BLACK CANDLE...that means that even though the price closed above the previous session, the result was a poor finish on the day...

As traders began to take new short positions....

Now, I had exited my previous short on that second red candle after the descending triangle breakdown (on Feb. 1st)... and near the bottom of that candle where you see that "pin action" at around $6.50...it turned out to be a pretty wise move as I got out with some handsome profits...I had sold $9 puts at that time for those profits.

And then I waited for another opportunity to present itself....

And there it was yesterday, as that Black Candle appeared after a large short squeeze...at least, that's my view of it....we shall find out if I made a timely move or not....

ACE ,,, I did your post #115 ...

I checked my email ,,, the only email I had was one from you in Jan. that I can sign up for the forum ... I don't see that I ever got any emails because people posted here ... like cmac said he did ...

control panel - preferences - click the question mark beside "invisible mode" ... looks like people can surf here with out being seen as being here ??? ,,, if so ,,, then forum may have more visitors then what shows up ??? ... maybe I am understanding that incorrectly ... I have always had "invisible" check marked ,,, the other preferences boxes were checked also ... until I just un-checked the two email boxes now ... I left "private messages" & "invisible" boxes with a check mark in them ...

Shark, yes, you are in the invisible mode! As administrator, I can see that, but it does allow you to surf the Forum without others knowing you are there....

A person can go to the CATEGORIES page and scroll down to the bottom, and it will indicate if any members are visiting in invisible mode, but it shouldn't identify the invisible person, as I understand it. [sneaky]

As for the EMAIL notices, I like them myself, because through the week, I can't always be on the Forum, and the email sends me a quick summary of what other members have said, in case something catches my fancy, I can click on the link in the email and respond quickly to a topic conversation. [comp]

LITHIUM- THE MOST PRECIOUS METAL!

I have had a small investment in ARTX, which sells Lithium, but it is not a pure play...and recently, as I saw the correction coming, so I wisely cut my position down to 150 shares from 275 at around $4.15...I didn't want to totally exit the trade and miss out on any powerful rebounds...

And I know there must be some better lithium plays and so I am trying to research this some more...

I found this chart at http://www.energyandresourcesdigest.com and it is trying to tell us a story....the price of the metal is sky-rocketing, but the lithium stocks appear to not have yet caught fire because the general public seems clueless, don't you think...?

Or, is it just that I am looking at the wrong Li plays?

Keeping an eye on FANNIE....it could be setting up for another breakout?

By the chart rating system at http://www.stockcharts.com , this is among the very best trending stocks with a top SCTR score of 99.9!

The breakout would be solid at about 5 cents past the $5.00 base top...

ACE ... just a thought on FNMA ... it is a little different from a normal stock ,,, in that the Government still has its fingers in FNMA ...

so one should check FNMA news stream for any Government action that could effect FNMA in a big way ... because any action on FNMA status as an entity by the Government ,,, could completely over rule the chart pattern in play ...
