I am going to post charts using the MACD as a signal to buy/sell and will try to explain why stocks move in either direction.  Today is an options expiration......which we all know that means stocks will be kept from going very far in either direction because of options.  Next week things will get back to normal.  I will post my latest chart using the MACD.

Guys - I've been gone all day since 1 pm.  Just got back home.  I see the Dow has gone up another 130 pts.  I'll get back to you guys later tonight.  I'm really glad o/e is over.  Things shud settle down next week.

One thing I noticed after the close was the miniscule move on the markets today.  The put enough premiums on the puts/calls so that very little is made the last day of options.  This time it was the day before o/e which did the trick - with the Dow going up over 400 pts.  I'm saying this to make sure you guys know what you're getting into when you try to beat these guys at their own game......especially options.

I'm a little tired tonight.....went out to eat (early lunch)....then we have a guest who will stay with us until Wed. or Thurs.....so we had to go and get a fish dinner and all the fixin's for her and I had to eat shrimp/fish/fries/pot. salad and onion rings.....that's why I'm not losing any weight.

Tomorrow I have to run a junior tennis tournament at 9 a.m. till around 6 pm. and then do the semifinals and finals on Sunday....so I'm going to be busy this wk-end.  After that things slow down.

The mkt will have to wait for us until Monday - it ain't goin' no place for awhile.

Your chart in the first post this page >

> your fake out day high re-closed the most recent gap & fake out day close filled the previous open gap ...

> after that ,,, price was free to fall & did so the next day to oversold ...

I wanted to see http://schrts.co/1QReC3 how super fast MACD handled your August 14 Fake out day & your August 15 oversold day ... ,,, ... August 13 day close right on the 20ma ~ those BOT Computer Programs can be so precise ... it is in their programing to do so ...

The whole chart now looks a little tired ~ no ? ...

Sammy ,,, if she is pretty & single & rich & about my age ,,, you could have sent her over here & I could have made her fresh caught perch deep fat fried in my secret recipe (original chicken shake'n'bake  🙃) with fresh garden tomatoes & cukes & green beans & home grown potatoes & the meal wouldn't have cost a penny ... except for the red wine of course ...

Doc:  I went to the US Open Qualifiers yesterday and had a really great time.  We stayed there 7 hours.....got back home by midnight.  I sent you a private message, but I guess you didn't get it.  I doubt if I'll go down to NYC again for the US Open.  We got in for free (no cost to see the Qualies).....not crowded, not very many lines to buy food nor to go to the bathrooms either.  It was a little hot earlier in the afternoon, but I finally found a shady place to watch the matches.  Lotta good matches too.

I haven't been watching the mkts much, but as far as the mkt goes - it's still fairly predictable......short term.....believe it or not.  There was a LABU buy signal at 86.5 on Friday around 11 a.m. - using the 15 min chart with MACD......same this with Nevada (NVDA)......around 240 on Monday near 2 pm.....using the MACD......meaning the MACD went lower, but the price did NOT.....indicating strength.

I saw the same thing with the Nasdaq chart yesterday.  I can post it for you later.  I'm going to the tennis club for awhile.  The weather is pretty good here today.  The NY State Fair starts here in Syracuse today.  Me and my wife will go once or twice......I may even go with some of my tennis friends.

SPY Chart looks bearish to me.  I've drawn a downward angling channel which could stay in effect.  I was using a 3/6 dma for signals and it has been working very well for me.  Now that O/E is over.....Friday should be a so-so day - probably sideways to down.  As long as it stays within the channel I've drawn.....all is OK.  Good trading.  The Slammer

But Sam ,,, I don't want price to stay in your channel ... I want it to drop down out of the channel tomorrow Friday 8-24 ,,, just like http://schrts.co/7cQuGZ SPY did Friday 8-10 ...

i bought my SPY PUT Weds. morning just before the day high because it was cheaper then Tuesday's close price then ...

Lil Shark:  Sorry......lots of times the mkt doesn't do what we want it to do.  You have to be very "cold" about it when you trade......i.e......if it doesn't react the way you want it to, get out immediately......that's Wyckoff used to say.  I'm saying sideways to down......there is a good possibility the mkt just cud keep going down too.  When is your expiration date for the option?  I'm assuming it's at least 3 weeks down the road.....or longer, right?  I've gotta go to the club for a little while.  I will answer your reply later on tonight.  Nice hearing from you.  By the way.....I had a very good time at the U.S. Open two days ago.....saw some really good tennis in person.  Some big names too.  Had lotsa fun.  The Slammer

SPY PUT strike $287.00 Oct.19 expiration(possibility of 2000 & 2008 type Sept./Oct. declines) ... paid $4.93 ,,, Thursday close > bid $5.20 ask $5.23 last $5.22 with SPY day close at $285.79 -.38 for the day ...

It was 1 level in the money when I bought it ... it is 2 levels in the money now ... when have some decent profit ,,, sell and then buy a lower in the money strike using the house money profit & less of my principle money ...

The trade plan is the right side of the Bollinger Band "M" ='s left top of the "M" August 7 at PLT 268.02 & right side top of the "M" August 21 at PLT 287.31 ...

the chart seems to be set up to print the right down side of the BB "M" now ...

at any rate ,,, buying a PUT the day that price turns down from the upper BB band http://schrts.co/2x8M9Z usually has good odds for more down based on the past on the chart ...

and have http://schrts.co/QpcZcL -D on CCI(10) & the fast & super fast MACD's to price 8-7 to 8-21 ...

I won't bore you with the signals on my other chart views ...

I have been tracking the "potential BB M" since it printed the left top on 8-7 ,,, waiting to buy the PUT at the right top of the "M" ...

The odds seemed good enough to try the PUT play Weds. morning 8-22 ...

Lil Shark:  Good idea to get out of SPY w/very small loss.  Now forget about it and don't sweat it.  Take a look at IQ.  It closed at 28.68.  Five months or so it went from 15 to 46 and then pulled back near a half way point to 25.  The MACD is now saying it's a BUY!  See it?  If not, let me know.  I am recommending to buy it Monday morning.  OK?  I can show you with the MACD - how the BUY-SIGNAL works.  If interested?

Lil Shark:  No problem.  I understand.  Have a good trip.  There are many posters on Ace's board.......and lurkers too.....who might be interested in buying some of my recommendations......huh?  Remember to put in a "reasonable" stop loss....just in case......away from most of the action.......as the stock moves up, then raise stop accordingly.

Yeah ,,, but ,,, selling anything on Ace's Forum to members is a violation of the rules ...

seems like it would be easier for you to just buy your reco's yourself & book the profits ? ,,, like Doc does ...

Lil Shark:  I didn't know I was violating the rules by recommending any stock, or index.  I thought we always said to "do your own due diligence" if you buy any stock we talk about.  If what you say is true, I may as well stop posting my charts.  I'm doing my best to explain what I "see" - no one forces anybody to buy or sell on this site - that I know of.  I can draw lots of lines on the charts; the mkt doesn't necessarily have to stay within these parameters.  When it breaks out of the lines (either up or down)......it means something.  Occasionally it's a fake-out.  The MACD gives many clues.  As far as I'm concerned, it's the most important technical indicator that I've ever worked with.  If Ace tells me to change my wording about stox.....I can do so.  No problem.
